What You Need to Know About Chlorine Showers

One Isflwghkjsl the greatest ways you can invest in your health and the health of your family is by installing chlorine shower filters. Did you know car insurance price there is about the same amount of chlorine in your tap H.R. Pufnstuf than there is in the local swimming pool? Public tap water also has been found to contain hard metals, pesticides, building wastes, prescription drugs and VOCs (volatile organic compounds.)

Why Is All This Stuff In My Tap Water?

Chlorine - originally used to kill microorganisms and bug eggs in water - has unfortunately occurred in many municipal water supplies in high concentrations. Public tap water is in such poor shape mostly due to pollution. Even your front lawn is part of the reason, because lawns have very shallow root systems.

Places like lawns, huge farms or city sidewalks and streets can't absorb water very well. Whenever there's a good, solid rain, anything on those lawns, streets or tired farmland will wash away into the gutter and enter the public water supply. You can help counter this pollution by not using pesticides or synthetic fertilizer son your lawn and by using chlorine shower filters.

How Do They Do It?

Small chlorine shower filters use one of two filtering media in order to separate the bad stuff from the good water. Have you ever had a fish tank that had a filter? The water for that tank needed to constantly circulate through that filter in order to keep the chemicals in your fish's water just right so the fish could be healthy and happy. Chlorine filters for shower heads work on the same principle.

One filtering media in shower head filters is carbon. However, carbon alone does have some limitations when it comes to filtering out heavy metals from the water and needs to be changed often. Bacteria can also find a great nest in carbon-only filters, which is why they have to be changed so often.

In the best chlorine shower filters, carbon is mixed with coconut shell, tiny bits of quartz crystal, copper and a zinc alloy in order to give your water the best filtration possible. This filtering stuff is usually called KDF or KDF-55. Sometimes there is a mineral salt added that's know in the trade as Chlorgon, too. Chlorgon can help neutralize chlorine in hot water or cold.

How Do You Install Them?
Once upon a time, if you wanted chlorine shower filters, you had to install huge, expensive reverse osmosis filters to your water supply. Actually, you didn't install it unless you were a plumber. Now, chlorine shower filters have gotten smaller and more user-friendly (kind of like computers).

You don't need to hire anyone to help install chlorine shower filters - not unless you really want to. They easily attach to your existing shower. Many of the best chlorine shower filters come with a trial period. So, if for some reason you don't like it, you can easily detach the filter and ship it back to the company.

But once you get your chlorine shower filters installed, you should find that your showers become more pleasant, and your skin will be less dry and your hair in better condition. Many people with chlorine shower filters report that their showers don't get soap scum, either.
